Jervaulx Abbey

There are few things that can inspire any model making enthusiast as much as a project as grand as this beautiful Abbey.

So Inspiring I just had to give it the justice it so deserves by dedicating this section of the website to Mr Derek Shaw who painstakingly created the model

Jervaulx Abbey in East Witton near the city of Ripon, was one of the great Cistercian abbeys of Yorkshire, England, founded in 1156.
The ruins as they are today and the source of inspiration

The model now resides in the Jervaulx Abbey Tea Rooms,East Witton, Lower Wensleydale.
At the back of the Tea Rooms stands Derek Shaw’s magnificent 1:72 scale model of Jervaulx Abbey as it would have looked in about 1530.
